Bhupendra becomes the youngest journalist in the T20 World Cup 2024

Bhupendra G.C. from Online Khabar has become the youngest journalist in the world to report on the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the youngest players, captain, and journalists participating in the World Cup to be held in the United States and West Indies from June 1 to 29.

Coincidentally, all of them are from Nepal. Bhupendra, a 25-year and 6-month-old reporter from Nepal’s number one online portal Online Khabar, will be reporting on the World Cup. Born on November 23, 1998, in Jhimruk Rural Municipality-4, Pyuthan, he started his sports journalism career in 2017. The ICC has reported that nearly 8,000 journalists from 50 countries have applied to cover the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be played by 20 teams. From Nepal alone, more than 300 applied, but the ICC only granted approval to 24 individuals. Thirteen of them received visas from the U.S. Embassy.

Nepali cricket team’s Rohit Paudel is set to become the youngest captain in T20 World Cup history. Rohit will lead the team at 21 years and 276 days. When Nepal plays against the Netherlands on June 4 at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, Rohit will break the record set by Zimbabwe’s Prosper Utseya in 2007, who was 22 years and 170 days old. Similarly, Gulshan Jha from Nepal will play as the youngest player in the 2024 World Cup. Gulshan will play in the World Cup at the age of 18 years and 77 days. Nepal is participating in the World Cup for the first time since 2014. Nepal is in Group B along with the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh. Nepal will start by playing against the Netherlands in Dallas on June 4.
